New Year is an opportunity to assess last year and figure out the best way ahead with your resolutions.

At most times, you can already figure out your resolutions for the coming year. However, somewhere along, you always seem to lose track. No wonder Jenny Miller from the New York Times reported that just around half of our New Year goals are often achievable.

Here are 3 tips for making and Hitting New Year Resolutions. They’ll boost your confidence towards hitting and exceeding 2023 goals.

Set Realistic Goals

At times, we are our worst enemies. Why set goals that are way too high to hit?

This time around, be realistic in your goal setting., Try to figure out both sides to achieve a goal. Consider the worst and best scenarios.

The reality in goal setting is a middle ground. It means you do not sweat unnecessarily, yet, never too easy to achieve.

Realistic goals apply within reasonable timeframes. For instance, there are goals you can never adjust. If you take two semesters for an undergraduate course, they remain two for any year.

However, for an online course, you can fast-track by putting in more hours — here, you are in control of the schedules.

Break Down Goals into Smaller Achievable Steps

In 2023, work with a set of goals you can break into smaller steps to achieve the main one.

Try looking at it as a pyramid with many triangles building on the height of one big triangle.

Let’s put it plain and simple — you want to have a fit body. And you plan to do 20 press-ups daily. Start at 5 in the morning. Take another set at teatime, at lunch hour and lastly in the evening.

The ultimate trick here is to hit five before you make 20 non-stop. And this is a logic you can apply to any big goal- by attacking its smaller building blocks first. You’ll find less demanding goals more manageable, which helps you build the discipline to qualify for the larger goal in time.

Tracking Progress with Time

Take the time to evaluate yourself. Are you on track or entirely lost? Tracking your progress will remind you of the promises you made to yourself.

Be honest with your achievements, whether it’s successes or failures. Any dishonesty is lying to yourself!

Let your progress be measurable. For instance, by the half-year mark, can you manage ten press-ups at a go? Or still, struggling to make five?

Self-evaluation is a realistic conversation pointing fingers where to put in more effort or raise the bar.

Let the outcomes challenge and encourage you to keep up the positive vibe towards achieving your best.

Parting Shot

Time never waits. It flies. So purpose to hit your 2023 goals by applying the three tips discussed in this article.

For this new year, try to be more realistic with your goal setting. Start with deliberate plus smaller and achievable goals.

Ultimately, track your small achievement first. And let them guide you to make realistic adjustments throughout the year.
